2027 KTM 300 XC

The 2027 KTM 300 XC in ORANGE is built for cross-country racing and aggressive trail riders who want 2-stroke punch with modern control. At its core is a 293.2 cm³ single-cylinder, 2-stroke engine fed by Keihin EFI with a 39 mm throttle body and managed by Vitesco Technologies EMS. Power delivery can be tailored with a standard map select switch offering two distinct engine maps, backed by a 6-speed transmission and a wet DDS multi-disc clutch with Brembo hydraulics. WP XACT suspension front and rear, plus a steel double-cradle frame, round out a focused competition package.

EFI 2-stroke with map select

Keihin EFI (39 mm throttle body) and Vitesco Technologies engine management bring modern consistency to a 293.2 cm³ 2-stroke. The standard map select switch lets you choose between two perceptible engine maps: Map 1 for linear, predictable delivery and Map 2 for crisp, explosive output, giving you an easy way to match conditions and riding style.

WP XACT suspension package

Up front, the WP XACT Closed Cartridge Ø 48 mm fork is designed for progressive, consistent damping, with adjustment for compression (high and low speed) and rebound. Out back, the WP XACT monoshock with linkage is built around refined response and ground-clearance-minded geometry at the linkage, with a preload adjuster to set the bike up for your pace and terrain.

Rider-focused chassis and feel

A central double-cradle-type 25CrMo4 steel frame is engineered with specific longitudinal and torsional flex characteristics to deliver feedback and stability. KTM’s mass-centralization approach brings rotating mass closer to the center of gravity, while details like the anti-squat-focused shock mounting, footpeg mounting position, and forged lower-frame brackets for skid plate fitment support control in rough, technical sections.

Engine, fueling, and tunable character

The KTM 300 XC’s 1-cylinder, 2-stroke design displaces 293.2 cm³ and uses Keihin EFI with a 39 mm throttle body for fuel-mixture generation, controlled by Vitesco Technologies EMS. KTM also uses electronic exhaust port management and an auto-calibrating setup intended to remove the hassle of incorrect power valve adjustments while improving rideability and engine control.

From the handlebar, the standard map select switch provides two distinct options: Map 1 for linear, predictable power delivery and Map 2 for a sharper, more explosive response. Drive is handled through a 6-speed transmission and a wet DDS multi-disc clutch with Brembo hydraulics.

Suspension setup and control

The 300 XC runs WP XACT suspension at both ends, pairing a WP XACT Closed Cartridge Ø 48 mm fork with a WP XACT monoshock and linkage. Suspension travel is 300 mm front and 300 mm rear, giving the chassis room to work in high-speed chop, braking bumps, and square-edge hits.

The fork offers compression adjustment (high and low speed) plus rebound adjustment, and KTM highlights an easy, tool-free approach to setup with hand-adjustable clickers. At the rear, the shock’s linkage and geometry are designed to provide more ground clearance at the linkage, with a preload adjuster for dialing in the ride.

Chassis details, ergonomics, and practical race features

Built around a central double-cradle-type 25CrMo4 steel frame with an aluminum-reinforced polyamide rear subframe, the 300 XC is designed to balance rigidity with rider feel. KTM points to frame construction and flex characteristics that help reduce harshness and rider fatigue, with the rotating mass positioned closer to the center of gravity for a more agile feel.

Ergonomics are shaped by a rider triangle and bi-compound tank shrouds intended to improve knee contact and grip when standing on the pegs. A flat seat profile with a high-grip black seat cover supports movement and control, and a grip pocket under the seat is designed to make lifting the bike easier. The one-piece airbox retains toolless filter access with an intuitive filter mounting system and dirt-intrusion protection.

Range, dimensions, and competition-ready hardware

For cross-country mileage, the transparent polythene fuel tank is listed at 9 l (2.38 US gal), with a tank roll designed to secure the tank and help protect the frame while making fuel level monitoring easier. Ground clearance is 354 mm (also listed as 13.94 inch), and seat height is 954 mm. Weight (without fuel) is 101.8 kg.

Stopping power comes from disc brakes front and rear, and final drive uses a 520 X-Ring chain. KTM also calls out durability-focused protection like chain guide and chain guard design intended to reduce hooking on external objects and minimize dirt build-up in muddy terrain. In ORANGE, the XC graphics package features dominant orange with black and red accents and in-mold graphics for a long-lasting finish.
