2026 Honda Talon 1000R - Pearl Red

The 2026 Honda Talon 1000R in Pearl Red is a two-seat sport side-by-side built around Honda’s 999cc liquid-cooled, longitudinally mounted parallel-twin four-stroke and a six-speed automatic Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT). It’s designed for drivers who want precise control and a more connected feel, with FOX Live Valve shocks, Electric Power Steering (EPS), and 2WD/4WD shift on the fly using Honda’s torque-biasing brake i-4WD traction control system. Hard doors come standard for added coverage and cabin convenience, while 30-inch tires and 13.2 inches of ground clearance help it stay composed when the trail gets rough.

Six-speed DCT control

Honda’s six-speed automatic Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) delivers a gear-driven setup with manual or automatic control. Advanced Transmission Logic senses how you drive to tailor shift behavior, and it adds true engine braking for more controlled descents. It’s a different feel than belt-driven CVT setups, focusing on efficient power delivery and a more direct connection between throttle input and acceleration.

FOX Live Valve suspension travel

The Talon 1000R pairs an independent double-wishbone front suspension with FOX Live Valve shocks and 17.6 inches of travel, plus a 4+ link trailing arm rear suspension with FOX Live Valve shocks and 20.1 inches of travel. The semi-active system dynamically adjusts compression damping at each wheel to reduce body roll, smooth out changing terrain, and provide strong resistance to bottoming when conditions get demanding.

Hard doors and EPS comfort

Standard full-coverage hard doors add weather protection and bring practical touches like cupholders and secure storage, using a rattle-free double-latch design. Honda Electric Power Steering (EPS) helps reduce fatigue by minimizing bump steer and adding assistance in 4WD, lower speeds, and rough conditions. An easy-to-read LCD instrument display supports quick at-a-glance info while you’re focused on the trail.

999cc parallel-twin: built for balance and response

At the heart of the Talon 1000R is a 999cc liquid-cooled, longitudinally mounted parallel-twin four-stroke with a Unicam® SOHC valvetrain and four valves per cylinder. Fueling is handled by a Programmed Fuel-Injection system (PGM-FI) with a 46mm throttle body, and the engine uses a 10.0:1 compression ratio with a 92.0mm x 75.1mm bore and stroke.

Honda places the engine behind the cab to support optimal balance and neutral weight distribution, aimed at delivering exceptional control. Features like a high-lift, long-duration camshaft and semi-dry-sump lubrication are part of the overall package designed to keep power accessible across the rpm range and maintain positive oiling under extreme conditions.

Drivetrain, traction, and maneuverability

The Talon 1000R uses direct front and rear driveshafts and offers 2WD/4WD shift on the fly. Honda’s i-4WD traction control is a torque-biasing brake system, intended to give you traction when you need it while keeping steering effort manageable—without requiring a diff lock. Hill Start Assist is included to automatically hold position while you move from brake to accelerator, helping reduce roll-back on hills and also working on downhills.

For tight terrain and everyday practicality, the Talon 1000R is designed with a 19.4-foot turning radius. It also rides on 30-inch tires (30 x 9-15 front, 30 x 10-15 rear) and lists 13.2 inches of ground clearance to help it handle uneven trails and obstacles.

Chassis, brakes, and key dimensions

Suspension capability is backed by braking hardware sized for confident control: dual 250mm discs in the front and dual 250mm discs in the rear. The 90.0-inch wheelbase and 68.1-inch width reflect the Talon 1000R’s sport-focused stance, while overall length is 123.7 inches and height is 75.8 inches.

For day-to-day usability, there’s a 299-pound bed capacity and a 7.3-gallon fuel capacity. Curb weight is listed at 1607 pounds (includes all standard equipment, required fluids and a full tank of fuel). Seating capacity is 2, and Honda notes it’s recommended for drivers 16 years of age and older.

Cabin equipment and accessory-ready details

Inside the cab, the Talon 1000R focuses on secure, functional touchpoints. The adjustable driver’s seat is designed to fit a wide range of operators and locks positively in position without wobble, helping you feel more connected to the vehicle. Full-coverage hard doors add storage with cupholders and secure compartments, and use a double-latch design intended to be rattle-free.

If you like to personalize your setup, Honda builds in convenience for add-ons with an integrated switch panel designed to make accessories like a winch or additional lighting easier to install while keeping the cabin looking tidy. Accessory charging ports are also included to help power your gear on the go.

Warranty coverage information

Honda includes a transferable, one year limited warranty with the Talon 1000R. For riders who want additional coverage options, extended coverage is available with a HondaCare® Protection Plan.
