2027 Honda CRF450R
-ACCEPTING DEPOSITS FOR NOVEMBER DELIVERIES-
The 2027 Honda CRF450R in Red is a purpose-built motocross machine designed around a compact 450cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke with a Unicam® SOHC valvetrain and PGM-FI fuel injection through a 46mm throttle body. A close-ratio five-speed manual and #520 chain final drive keep gearing tight for track work. For chassis control, it pairs a 49mm inverted Showa® fork with 12.2 inches of travel and a Pro-Link® Showa® rear shock with 12.0 inches of travel, backed by a 260mm front brake disc. Finishing touches like black DID DirtStar rims and bold Honda graphics underline the all-new 2027 look.
Updated 450cc Unicam® power
At the heart of the CRF450R is a 450cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke with a new Unicam® valve layout designed to increase valvetrain rigidity while keeping the package compact. Fueling is handled by a PGM-FI system with a 46mm throttle body, and Honda also specifies double-spray injector settings for improved atomization and stronger midrange and overrev character.
Showa® suspension, Pro-Link® rear
The CRF450R chassis is built around long-travel suspension front and rear: a 49mm inverted Showa® fork with 12.2 inches of travel up front, and a Pro-Link® Showa® single shock with 12.0 inches of travel out back. Honda also notes a lighter, more responsive shock setup aimed at improving low-speed compression damping feel and keeping the suspension more consistent through the stroke.
Rider-tunable controls at the bar
Track conditions change quickly, and the CRF450R is set up for quick adjustments without leaving the cockpit. An engine mode selection button on the left handlebar lets you switch between Standard, Smooth, and Aggressive modes to tailor power delivery. There’s also Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), activated from a left-side handlebar-mounted green button, with three settings to suit traction conditions.
Engine layout, intake efficiency, and exhaust packaging
Honda’s 2027 CRF450R uses a 450cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke with a 13.8:1 compression ratio, Unicam® SOHC valvetrain, and four valves per cylinder. Bore and stroke are listed at 97.0mm x 60.8mm. Induction is via PGM-FI with a 46mm throttle body, and Honda’s double-spray injector settings deliver two fuel sprays per intake cycle for improved atomization and added strength through the midrange and on overrev.
Honda also details larger valves to support intake efficiency: titanium intake valves increase from 38mm to 40mm, while the exhaust valves move from 31mm to 32mm, alongside head and port changes intended to optimize airflow. A single-pipe exhaust routes the header close to the center of the bike, with lightweight construction intended to help weight distribution and deliver more controllable low- and mid-rpm power than the previous generation.
Chassis geometry, rider position, and on-track hardware
For 2027, Honda calls out an all-new frame with slightly more steering rake and a longer wheelbase, with major components fine-tuned for rigidity and weight loss. Key dimensions include 27.3° of rake, 4.6 inches of trail, and a 58.7-inch wheelbase. Seat height is 37.5 inches, ground clearance is 13.1 inches, and fuel capacity is 1.9 gallons. Curb weight is listed at 238 pounds (including required fluids and a full tank of fuel); dry weight is 225 pounds (curb weight without fuel).
Honda also moved the footpegs back 5mm to make it easier to shift weight over the rear wheel for improved hookup. Braking is handled by a single 260mm front disc with a twin-piston caliper and a single 240mm rear disc. Dunlop tires are specified in the sizing of 80/100-21 front and 120/90-19 rear, paired with black DID DirtStar rims for a lightweight, strong wheel package that’s also easy to clean.
Transmission and rider aids for race-day adaptability
Power is delivered through a close-ratio five-speed manual transmission and #520 chain final drive with 13T/51T gearing. Honda also lists an all-new clutch assembly and a hydraulic clutch, supporting consistent lever feel during hard motos.
For adapting to track and traction changes, the left-handlebar engine mode button provides three selectable maps (Standard, Smooth, and Aggressive). Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) is also included, offering three settings to manage rear-wheel traction. Honda further lists HRC launch control as part of the model’s equipment suite.
2027 model look: graphics and details
In Red, the 2027 CRF450R comes with bold Honda graphics inspired by Honda’s factory MXGP bikes. Honda notes the blue rear fender and side number plates as a nod to the brand’s historic motocross machines, making the 2027 model-year styling easy to recognize. Practical details like the black rim finish complement the look while keeping cleanup straightforward after track days.
