View PageThe 2026 Honda FourTrax Rancher in Black Forest Green is a purpose-built utility ATV designed for riders who want a capable machine for work around the property and weekend trail time. Power comes from a 420cc liquid-cooled, longitudinally mounted single-cylinder four-stroke with PGM-FI and a 34mm throttle body for consistent, smooth operation. A five-speed transmission with reverse pairs with direct front and rear driveshafts and a torque-sensitive locking front differential for confident traction. With front and rear cargo racks, strong towing capacity, and a comfortable seat, the Rancher balances everyday practicality with proven Honda engineering.
At the heart of the Rancher is a 420cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine using Honda’s Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI). With a 34mm throttle body, 12-hole injector, and oxygen sensor, it promptly adjusts fuel mapping to help keep operation smooth while supporting lower emissions and enhanced fuel efficiency. The longitudinal engine layout and semi-dry-sump design contribute to a compact package aimed at stable handling and useful ground clearance.
For changing terrain and demanding chores, the Rancher uses direct front and rear driveshafts with a torque-sensitive locking front differential. The clean, efficient shaft drive is designed to be low-maintenance and well-suited to high-mileage use, eliminating the need for lubrication or adjustment while on the trail. Wide front driveshaft guards add extra coverage for front axles and outboard CV joints for added peace of mind in rough conditions.
Built to work, the Rancher includes front and rear cargo racks with 66.0 pounds of front rack capacity and 133.0 pounds at the rear, plus an 848-pound towing capacity. A 1.9-liter front utility box helps keep smaller items close at hand. The plush seat uses thick, soft foam and an open rider triangle to support comfort during long days, while dashboard indicator lights keep key status info easy to monitor.
The Rancher’s 420cc liquid-cooled, longitudinally mounted single-cylinder four-stroke uses an OHV, two-valve layout with a 9.9:1 compression ratio and an 86.5mm x 71.5mm bore and stroke. Its semi-dry-sump design is intended to keep the engine compact and lightweight while helping lower the center of gravity and improve ground clearance.
PGM-FI fueling is built around a 34mm throttle body, and an in-tank fuel pump design helps maintain a cooler operating temperature, which can extend fuel pump lifespan. Starting is electric, with an optional auxiliary recoil noted for added backup confidence.
This TRX420FM1T configuration uses a five-speed transmission with reverse and a driveline that features direct front and rear driveshafts. Up front, a torque-sensitive locking front differential and torque-biasing front differential (feature-listed) are aimed at helping the Rancher find grip when the surface turns loose or uneven.
Honda also emphasizes practical protection details, including wide front driveshaft guards that provide additional coverage for the front axles and outboard CV joints. Combined with the shaft-drive layout, the Rancher is set up to handle regular use without the chain maintenance routine many riders prefer to avoid.
The Rancher pairs an independent double-wishbone front suspension with 6.7-inch travel and a swingarm rear suspension with a single shock and 6.7-inch travel. Manual steering keeps the setup straightforward. Ground clearance is 7.1 inches, and the turning radius is 9.2 feet, helping when you’re working in tighter spaces.
Up front are dual 190mm disc brakes, with a 160mm rear drum brake. Tire sizing is 24 x 8-12 front and 24 x 10-11 rear, matched to an overall width of 47.4 inches and a 50.0-inch wheelbase for a stable, utility-friendly stance.
Utility is a core part of the Rancher’s layout, with front and rear cargo racks plus a 1.9-liter front utility box. Fuel capacity is 3.9 gallons, and curb weight is listed at 615 pounds (including all standard equipment, required fluids, and a full tank of fuel). The ATV measures 82.8 inches long and 46.2 inches high, with a 33.6-inch seat height.
Rider information is handled through dashboard indicator lights for neutral, reverse, engine temperature, and fuel. Honda also notes that more than 20 genuine Honda accessories are available to customize the Rancher, including Honda Pro-Connect™ cargo accessories designed for easy attachment and removal without tools.
Factory warranty coverage is listed as a transferable, one year included, limited warranty. Optional extended coverage is available with a HondaCare® Protection Plan.
