View PageThe 2027 Honda CRF250RX in Red is built for riders who want CRF250R power with off-road-focused upgrades and tuning. A 249cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke with DOHC four-valve head and PGM-FI fuel injection (44mm throttle body) delivers sharp response, backed by a five-speed manual transmission and #520 chain final drive (13T/50T). Enduro-ready details like an 18-inch rear wheel, handguards, and a sidestand make it easier to live with on the trail, while Showa suspension and Dunlop Geomax AT81 tires are spec’d for the terrain this bike is meant to cover.
At the heart of the CRF250RX is a 249cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder four-stroke with a DOHC four-valve layout and PGM-FI fuel injection. Honda’s off-road package builds on that foundation with features like high-performance cam profiles and large-diameter valves (33mm intakes, 26mm exhausts) aimed at strong pull while keeping the engine ready to rev.
The off-road intent shows up in the 18-inch rear wheel-and-tire combo, designed to improve bump absorption and broaden the contact patch for roots, ruts, and rocks. Matching Dunlop Geomax AT81 tires (90/90-21 front, 110/100-18 rear) are specifically designed for enduro use, rounding out a setup built for real trail conditions.
The CRF250RX comes with practical features that matter when you’re riding off-road. Electric start helps with quick restarts after a stall, and the bike includes a tucked-in sidestand that’s designed to stay out of the way on the trail. An engine mode select button and Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) are also part of the package.
Honda gives the 2027 CRF250RX a 249cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine with a 13.9:1 compression ratio, DOHC valvetrain, and four valves per cylinder. Fueling is handled by a Programmed Fuel-Injection system (PGM-FI) with a 44mm throttle body.
Beyond the core architecture, the RX includes features aimed at sharpening how the power is delivered off-road, including gear-position engine mapping and high-performance cam profiles developed with input from Honda’s HRC factory team. Large-diameter valves (33mm intake and 26mm exhaust) are used to enhance flow at high rpm, and the DOHC design uses a finger-follower rocker layout.
The CRF250RX uses a race-bred chassis with tuning to the tripleclamps, frame, fork, and steering stem for chassis rigidity and responsiveness. For suspension, it’s equipped with a 49mm inverted Showa fork with 12.2 inches of travel up front and a Pro-Link Showa single shock with 12.1 inches of travel in the rear.
Off-road geometry and clearance numbers are clearly in enduro territory, with 13.0 inches of ground clearance, a 58.2-inch wheelbase, 27.3° rake, and 4.5 inches of trail. Seat height is listed at 37.7 inches, and Honda’s narrow seat and bodywork are designed to make it easier to move around on the bike while enhancing rider comfort.
Braking hardware includes a single 260mm front disc and a single 240mm rear disc. Tires are Dunlop Geomax AT81 enduro-spec, sized 90/90-21 at the front and 110/100-18 at the rear, pairing with the RX’s 18-inch rear wheel concept for trail compliance.
For starts, Honda includes HRC Launch Control: select the mode, hold the throttle open, and release the clutch, and the ECU regulates power to the rear wheel based on available traction. The bike also includes Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), supporting a more manageable drive character when traction is limited.
The RX adds off-road upgrades called out by Honda, including an 18-inch rear wheel, a larger tank, and trail-ready tuning. Fuel capacity is 2.1 gallons. The CRF250RX also includes handguards and a sidestand designed to tuck in tight for trail clearance.
Electric start is part of the package, described as convenient and lightweight for getting going again after a stall. With curb weight listed at 242 pounds (including all standard equipment, required fluids, and a full tank of fuel), the CRF250RX keeps a focused enduro profile while still bringing practical equipment for real-world trail riding.
A unique finger-follower rocker design and a double-overhead-cam (DOHC) engine layout provide more power and a higher redline.
The engine's twin-cam design includes large-diameter valves—33mm intakes and 26mm exhausts—which enhance flow at high rpm.
With input from our HRC factory team, we’ve given the bike cam profiles that help the engine produce ample bottom-end torque while retaining substantial peak power.
Dunlop’s Geomax AT81 tires are specifically designed for enduro use. They are spec'd at 21 inches for the front and 18 inches for the rear.
We tuned the tripleclamps, frame, fork, and steering stem for ideal chassis rigidity and responsiveness to give the bike cornering feel for days.
Valved specifically for off-road riding, the 49mm Showa fork uses a conventional spring design with a 39mm piston and a 25mm rod. It is designed to give the rider a supple feel while still providing the hold-up needed to resist bottoming under heavy loads like big jumps, bumps, or ruts.
Designed for enduro use, the 18-inch rear wheel-and-tire combo provides better bump absorption and a broader contact patch to smooth out the roots, ruts, and rocks that come with off-road riding.
A shared engine/transmission oiling design reduces weight and makes the engine more compact, particularly for the right-side cam drive and clutch placement.
Fine-tuning the seat height and narrowing the bodywork make it easier to move around on the bike and enhance rider comfort.
Real enduro bikes need a sidestand, and we’ve given this bike a great one. We’ve tucked it in tight, so it’s out of the way on the trail.
It's equipped with an effortless electric starter. Convenient and lightweight, it’s a huge deal if you need to restart a stalled bike in the heat of battle.
The ECU’s special launch control program lets you select the mode, hold the throttle open, and release the clutch. Your bike then takes control, regulating power to the rear wheel based on available traction and turning it into a holeshot-seeking machine!
