2027 KTM 250 XC-W

The 2027 KTM 250 XC-W in ORANGE is built for enduro riders who want a strong blend of power and rideability in a lightweight 249 cm³ 1-cylinder, 2-stroke package. Fuel-mixture generation is handled by Keihin EFI with a 39 mm throttle body, managed by Vitesco Technologies EMS for consistent response across changing conditions. A 6-speed transmission and a wet DDS multi-disc clutch with Brembo hydraulics keep the drivetrain precise and controllable. On the chassis side, WP suspension at both ends brings fully adjustable compression and rebound, with KTM’s PDS rear-shock layout designed with enduro demands in mind.

249 cm³ 2-stroke with EFI

At the heart of the 250 XC-W is a 249 cm³ single-cylinder, 2-stroke engine paired with Keihin EFI through a 39 mm throttle body and controlled by Vitesco Technologies EMS. The result is a modern enduro setup focused on clean, consistent fueling. Matched to a 6-speed gearbox and a Brembo-hydraulic DDS wet multi-disc clutch, it’s designed to deliver controllable drive and quick reactions when the trail keeps changing.

Tool-free WP suspension adjustability

The WP XACT-USD 48 mm fork and WP XPLOR shock absorber with PDS are built around easy tuning for enduro conditions. Both ends are compression and rebound adjustable, and KTM highlights tool-free operation for quick changes on the fly. With 300 mm front travel and 310 mm rear travel, the suspension package is set up to handle everything from fast sections to technical terrain without needing a workshop stop to make meaningful adjustments.

Trail-practical details and lighting

This XC-W comes with a proven electric start system powered by an ultra-lightweight 2 Ah lithium-ion starter battery, with key electrical components positioned under the seat for accessibility. KTM’s Offroad Control Unit (OCU) replaces traditional electronic fuses and relays and uses LED status indication to help with quick fault identification. An LED headlight unit and updated mask design add serious illumination and improved protection at the triple clamp area.

Engine, fueling, and drivetrain control

The KTM 250 XC-W uses a 249 cm³ 1-cylinder, 2-stroke engine with Keihin EFI and a 39 mm throttle body. Vitesco Technologies EMS manages the system, continuously working with key inputs to calculate the air-fuel mixture for smooth, consistent running in demanding enduro conditions.

Power is delivered through a 6-speed transmission and a wet DDS multi-disc clutch with Brembo hydraulics. The combination is aimed at giving the rider clean modulation and dependable operation when traction varies. KTM also notes that an optional map select switch is available for XC-W models, providing two distinct engine maps: a more linear, predictable Map 1 and a more aggressive Map 2 for added throttle response.

Chassis, stability, and suspension tuning

The chassis is built around a central double-cradle-type 25CrMo4 steel frame with an aluminum-reinforced polyamide rear subframe. KTM’s design focus includes longitudinal rigidity for feedback and stability, with details like a forged steering head connection and CNC-milled triple clamps intended to keep the front end precise while maintaining a planted feel at speed.

Suspension is handled by a WP XACT-USD Ø 48 mm fork up front and a WP XPLOR shock absorber with PDS at the rear. Both ends are compression and rebound adjustable, and the rear includes a preload adjuster. Suspension travel is listed at 300 mm front and 310 mm rear, and KTM emphasizes tool-free adjustability to make quick setup changes straightforward out on the trail.

Enduro-ready equipment and functional design

Practical off-road details are built in throughout the bike. The air filter box is designed for maximum airflow with minimal water intrusion, and it’s set up for tool-free access with a simple mounting system to speed up trail-side maintenance. A dedicated splash protector under the airbox helps reduce water and dirt coming up from the rear wheel in wet conditions.

A transparent polythene (XPE) fuel tank is part of the KTM Enduro lineup, with a one-piece fuel pump and filter and easy fuel-filter access for servicing. Ground clearance is listed at 347 mm, and seat height is 963 mm. The bike also features disc brakes front and rear and a 520 X-Ring chain, rounding out a build focused on enduro durability and day-to-day usability.

Electrics, OCU, and LED headlight

The 250 XC-W is fitted with an electric start system powered by an ultra-lightweight 2 Ah lithium-ion starter battery. KTM positions many electrical components under the seat to improve accessibility when you need to get to them quickly.

A key piece of the electrical package is the Offroad Control Unit (OCU), which replaces electronic fuses and relays. Outputs are switched based on signals from the voltage regulator and ECU, and if an over-current event occurs, outputs can be deactivated individually. KTM also includes red/green LED indication for each output status, designed to simplify error detection out on the trail. For visibility, the Enduro range uses an LED headlight unit and an updated light mask design aimed at improved fitment and protection.
