2027 KTM 300 XC-W - ORANGE

The 2027 KTM 300 XC-W in ORANGE is built for riders who want a dedicated enduro platform with a lightweight feel and strong two-stroke character. At its core is a 293.15 cm³ 1-cylinder, 2-stroke engine with Keihin EFI via a 39 mm throttle body and Vitesco Technologies EMS, paired with a 6-speed transmission and a wet DDS multi-disc clutch with Brembo hydraulics. WP suspension front and rear, a steel central double-cradle frame, and enduro-ready details like an LED headlight and electric start round out a package designed for technical terrain, long days, and fast special stages alike.

293.15 cm³ TBI two-stroke drive

The 300 XC-W combines a 293.15 cm³ single-cylinder 2-stroke with Keihin EFI (39 mm throttle body) and Vitesco Technologies EMS. KTM’s electronically controlled Throttle Body Injection (TBI) continuously calculates the air-fuel mixture by analyzing parameters in real time, aiming for consistent running across changing conditions. A 6-speed gearbox and wet DDS multi-disc clutch with Brembo hydraulics complete the setup for controlled, competition-focused power delivery.

WP suspension, tool-free tuning

WP components lead the chassis package: a WP XACT-USD 48 mm fork up front and a WP XPLOR shock with PDS in the rear. Both ends are compression and rebound adjustable, with the rear also featuring a preload adjuster. KTM highlights tool-free suspension setup, including hand-adjustable controls designed to make on-the-fly changes quick and practical when terrain and pace shift during an enduro loop.

Electric start and trail-smart electrics

A proven electric start system is powered by an ultra-lightweight 2 Ah lithium-ion starter battery. KTM also fits an Offroad Control Unit (OCU) under the seat to replace traditional fuses and relays, switching outputs based on regulator and ECU signals. Status LEDs indicate each output (red or green), designed to simplify basic electrical diagnosis by lifting the seat—helpful when you’re far from the truck.

Engine management and fueling details

The KTM 300 XC-W’s single-cylinder 2-stroke engine uses Vitesco Technologies EMS along with Keihin EFI and a 39 mm throttle body. KTM’s TBI system is designed to continuously determine the ideal air-fuel mixture by monitoring operating parameters, supporting consistent performance as conditions change. KTM also notes added protection for the CPC fuel connector via a protection cap, plus a small, easily accessible fuel filter located in the fuel hose.

For riders who want added adjustability, KTM offers an optional map select switch for XC-W models that allows selection of two engine maps: Map 1 is described as standard, linear, and predictable, while Map 2 is more aggressive with added throttle response and a more crisp, explosive power output.

Chassis, stability, and enduro-focused construction

The chassis centers on a central double-cradle-type 25CrMo4 steel frame, paired with CNC-milled triple clamps and a forged steering head connection. KTM points to this combination for stability and precise front-end behavior, with optimally tuned steering stem stiffness, accurate fork tube alignment, and clamp geometry intended to support responsive and smooth fork action.

At the rear, an aluminum-reinforced polyamide subframe uses a 2-part polyamide and reinforced aluminum construction. KTM designed specific rigidity into the subframe for handling and rider feedback, and notes the compact design can bend and flex in a crash rather than break. The subframe also integrates electronic components without extra brackets or fixtures.

Suspension travel, clearance, and adjustability on the trail

This XC-W setup is built around long-travel suspension: 300 mm of front travel and 310 mm in the rear. Up front is a WP XACT-USD 48 mm fork with compression and rebound adjustment. KTM’s WP XACT Closed Cartridge fork description emphasizes fast, consistent damping with optimized oil flow, plus protection rings designed to help keep dirt out, and full adjustment without tools.

In the rear, the WP XPLOR shock absorber with PDS is compression and rebound adjustable and includes a preload adjuster. KTM highlights PDS as a race-proven, maintenance-friendly approach for enduro use and notes its role in chassis behavior such as anti-squat characteristics. Ground clearance is listed at 347 mm, supporting obstacle-heavy terrain.

Practical enduro equipment: lighting, intake, and fuel system

For low-light riding, the KTM Enduro range features an LED headlight unit and light mask. KTM notes improved triple clamp protection against roost and a move away from rubber mounting straps for improved fitment, with the LED unit intended to provide strong illumination.

The air filter box is designed for maximum airflow with minimal water intrusion, using inlet duct positioning aimed at preventing air deformation while protecting the filter. An enduro-specific splash protector under the airbox helps reduce water and dirt splashing up from the rear wheel, and KTM specifies a Twin Air filter with a simple, fail-proof mounting system. The air filter is designed to be accessed without tools for quicker trail-side maintenance. Fuel is carried in a transparent polythene (XPE) tank, with a one-piece fuel pump and filter, and easy fuel filter access; tank capacity is listed at 9 l (approx.).

Wheels, brakes, and key dimensions

The 300 XC-W rolls on high-strength GIANT alloy wheels with CNC-machined hubs and aluminum nipples, wrapped in Dunlop AT82 tires. Braking is handled by front and rear disc brakes, and the drivetrain uses a 520 X-Ring chain. KTM also designs the exhaust header pipe with the goal of more ground clearance and reduced damage risk over deep roots, ruts, or steep rocks, with a lightweight aluminum silencer.

Key figures include a seat height of 963 mm and weight (without fuel) of 104.4 kg. The ORANGE colorway is paired with black and red accents, and KTM specifies in-mold graphics for long-lasting finish along with a black high-grip seat cover to support rider control and movement.
