2027 KTM 450 XC-F Features
449.9cc SOHC Four-Stroke Engine
The compact 449.9cc single-cylinder engine delivers the powerful torque and acceleration expected from an open-class KTM race bike. Its SOHC cylinder-head design places major rotating components close to the motorcycle’s center of gravity, helping improve mass centralization, handling, and overall balance.
Keihin Electronic Fuel Injection
A Keihin electronic fuel-injection system with a 44 mm throttle body provides immediate throttle response and accurate fuel delivery. The system helps maintain consistent engine performance across changing elevations, temperatures, and riding conditions.
Selectable Engine Maps
The handlebar-mounted map select switch gives the rider access to two engine characteristics. Map 1 provides smoother, more linear power delivery, while Map 2 produces a sharper throttle response and more aggressive power delivery.
Traction Control
Handlebar-selectable traction control helps manage rear-wheel slip when riding on wet, muddy, or loose terrain. The rider can quickly switch the system on or off to suit changing course conditions.
Launch Control
Standard launch control helps reduce excessive rear-wheel spin under hard acceleration. By managing the amount of power delivered to the rear wheel, the system helps the rider maintain traction and control when accelerating away from the starting line.
Quickshifter
The standard Quickshifter allows fast clutchless upshifts during acceleration. This helps the rider maintain momentum and concentrate on line selection when charging toward the first corner or accelerating through open sections.
Five-Speed Transmission
The five-speed transmission is matched to the broad torque and high-output performance of the 449.9cc engine. Its gearing is designed to deliver strong acceleration and effective power transfer across fast, flowing cross-country terrain.
Brembo Hydraulic DDS Clutch
The wet DDS multi-disc clutch uses a durable diaphragm-spring design and Brembo hydraulic actuation. It delivers consistent engagement, precise modulation, and dependable operation throughout long and demanding races.
Centralized Chassis Design
The engine and chassis are arranged to keep rotating mass close to the motorcycle’s center of gravity. This improves directional changes, cornering behavior, and overall control without sacrificing the straight-line stability required at high speeds.
25CrMo4 Chromoly-Steel Frame
The central double-cradle frame is constructed from hydroformed, laser-cut, and robot-welded 25CrMo4 chromoly steel. Carefully engineered longitudinal and torsional flex characteristics provide accurate rider feedback while helping reduce harshness and fatigue over rough terrain.
Optimized Anti-Squat Behavior
The engine, countershaft sprocket, frame, and rear-shock mounting positions work together to improve anti-squat behavior. This helps the rear wheel maintain traction and keeps the chassis composed when accelerating hard out of corners.
Aluminum-Reinforced Polyamide Subframe
The lightweight rear subframe combines aluminum and reinforced polyamide materials. Its hybrid construction provides strength and carefully controlled flex while helping keep overall motorcycle weight low.
Cross-Country Rider Ergonomics
A specially developed rider triangle and slim bodywork provide generous freedom of movement. Bi-compound tank shrouds create useful knee-contact and gripping surfaces, especially when the rider is standing on the footpegs.
Flat, High-Grip Seat
The flat seat profile makes it easier to move forward and backward while navigating changing terrain. A high-grip black seat cover helps the rider remain securely positioned during hard acceleration, braking, and technical riding.
Convenient Lifting Grip
A recessed grip pocket beneath the seat provides a convenient place to hold the motorcycle when lifting it over obstacles, moving it in the pits, or recovering it from difficult terrain.
8.5-Liter Transparent Fuel Tank
The approximately 8.5-liter fuel tank provides the capacity needed for extended cross-country racing. Its transparent polyethylene construction allows the rider or race crew to check the remaining fuel level quickly.
WP XACT 48 mm Closed-Cartridge Fork
The 48 mm WP XACT closed-cartridge spring fork provides progressive, consistent damping and excellent rider feedback. Oil and air bypass systems help reduce pressure peaks, while the mid-valve damping system improves comfort and control across repeated impacts.
WP XACT Rear Shock with Linkage
The WP XACT rear shock uses a linkage system and race-developed settings to provide strong traction, controlled damping, and predictable handling. The shock and linkage geometry also provide generous ground clearance beneath the motorcycle.
Tool-Free Suspension Adjustment
Easy-access adjusters allow riders to make suspension changes quickly at the track. The front fork features hand-adjustable compression and rebound controls, while the rear suspension provides convenient adjustment for rider and course setup.
300 mm of Front and Rear Suspension Travel
The KTM 450 XC-F provides 300 mm of suspension travel at both ends. This generous travel helps the motorcycle absorb roots, rocks, braking bumps, jumps, and other demanding cross-country obstacles.
Brembo Disc Brakes
Brembo hydraulic disc brakes provide strong stopping performance and accurate brake feel. The system is engineered to remain consistent during demanding race conditions and extended periods of aggressive use.
520 X-Ring Chain
A durable 520 X-ring chain is designed to provide dependable power transfer while resisting dirt intrusion and retaining lubrication. A protective chain guide and guard help reduce the chance of snagging on rocks, roots, or debris.
High-Flow Airbox
The one-piece airbox uses a dedicated inlet sleeve and snorkel to improve airflow while resisting deformation. Its design also helps protect the intake system against dirt entering during dusty or muddy riding conditions.
Tool-Free Air-Filter Access
The air filter can be accessed without tools, making inspection and replacement easier between races or riding sessions. An intuitive mounting system helps ensure the filter is installed correctly and securely.
Reduced Mud Buildup
The bodywork, chain protection, and contact surfaces are shaped to reduce the collection of mud and debris. This helps maintain rider movement and limits unnecessary weight buildup during wet races.
Generous Ground Clearance
With approximately 343 mm of ground clearance, the KTM 450 XC-F is prepared for deep ruts, rocks, roots, and uneven off-road terrain. The footpeg and linkage areas are designed to reduce the chance of catching on obstacles.
Optional Connectivity Unit Offroad
The KTM Connectivity Unit Offroad is available separately through KTM PowerParts. When connected to the KTMconnect app, it provides expanded engine-adjustment options, riding information, and suspension-setting recommendations based on rider preferences and terrain.
2027 KTM Cross-Country Graphics
The 2027 KTM 450 XC-F features dominant KTM orange bodywork with contrasting black and red accents. Durable in-mold graphics help provide a long-lasting finish, while matching textures throughout the motorcycle create a unified READY TO RACE appearance.
